Abstract
The rate of oxidation of ethyl glycol, D-mannifol and D-sorbitol by hexacya noferrate(III) ion in aqueous alkaline medium is directly proportional to t he organic substrate and hydroxide ion concentrations, The dependence of ra te on hexacyanoferrate(III) ion is nearly first order at lower concentratio ns and tends towards zero order at higher concentrations, A probable reacti on mechanism has been suggested.
