Abstract
A correction is presented to a quantitative study [J. Opt. Sec. Am. 55, 572 (1965)] of Rayleigh's criterion for allowable wave-front amplitude aberrat ion. Also, for comparison, Marechal's alternative root-mean-square criterio n is evaluated under the same conditions.
