Abstract
We show that coherent optical drive of electrons can provide sain at gamma- ray nuclear transitions without the requirement of population inversion due to the hyperfine coupling between electrons and nuclei. This suggests a ne w path for a solution of one of the most challenging problems in modern phy sics-realization of a gamma-ray laser.
