The resonant fluorescence spectrum of three coherently coupled excited stat
es to the ground state is evaluated analytically in the strong driving fiel
d approximation. One of the three dressed states can be stabilized by quant
um interference. We show that it is possible to transfer excited state popu
lation from the two decaying dressed states to the nondecaying dressed stat
e via an appropriate choice of incoherent pumping processes. This allows al
most complete inhibition of the total fluorescence, even in the presence of
deleterious spontaneous emission processes.
