Stereospecific synthesis and antimycobacterial activity of 1-aryl-2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-O-(aryl)-ethanoxime ethers E and Z oxiconazole analogs

A stereospecific synthesis of antifungal imidazolylarylethanoxime ether der ivatives is reported. The (E) and (Z)- assignments, respectively, were made on the basis of H-1-NMR-spectral data. The new derivatives are provided wi th in vitro antimycobacterial activity. They were also assayed against some strains of Candida albicans, Candida sp. gram-positive and gram-negative b acteria and against some isolates of plant pathogenic fungi.
