The haustoria of 38 species of the rust fungus Puccinia were examined in re
lation to the host cells. According to species, the haustoria were compared
in size with parenchyma host cells, and host-pathogen area differences wer
e found. Further observations were made of the pathogen host relations, spo
re wall thickness, spore size, and growth of the fungus in the host tissue.
