Abstract
Transmission line matrix (TLM) algorithms for lossy electrical network prov ide a solution for the telegrapher's equation. In spite of the fact that th ese constitute a lossy wave equation analogue, they have been successfully used to model thermal problems. This paper discusses the relationship betwe en the hyperbolic and parabolic formulations and shows how TLM can be succe ssfully applied in both regimes. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
