Abstract
Severe plastic deformation at temperatures below 0.4T(m) was used to obtain submicracrystalline titanium. It was revealed that the mass density of tit anium with a grain size of 100 nm was decreased by 0,5% compared with coars e-grained titanium. The decrease in density is not connected with formation of pores or cracks during intensive deformation. On the basis of structure study and results of dilatometric measurements and X-ray investigations, t he changes in density of submicrocrystalline titanium are explained.
