Abstract
The essential components of the ring imaging Cherenkov detector for the HER A-B experiment are briefly described. Results of the first test measurement s with the HERA proton beam are presented and the capability of the RICH to identify kaons is estimated. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights res erved.
