Va. Loiko et Vi. Molochko, The model of addition for the coherent component in a concentrated layer of discrete scatterers, OPT SPECTRO, 84(5), 1998, pp. 755-760
Propagation of the coherent component of a light wave through a layer of di
screte scatterers is considered. A system of equations for coherent reflect
ion and transmission of a layer of scatterers is written with allowance mad
e for multiple scattering of a coherent wave, inside the scattering layer.
As the radiation wavelength tends to infinity, the system transforms to a s
ystem of Gurevich equations for the incoherent component. Its analytical so
lution is found, which makes it possible to describe the behavior of the co
herent component for a wide range of dimensions of scatterers: from Bouguer
's law for large scatterers to Airy's formulas for small scatterers when th
e layer is adequately simulated by a plane parallel plate. A simple present
ation of constants of the system of equations mentioned based on familiar f
ormulas for a monolayer of particles in the approximation of independent sc
atterers and its modification for a better description of systems with corr
elations in the location of scatterers are proposed. A comparison of the re
sults obtained with experimental data known from the literature demonstrate
d a considerable improvement of the calculation accuracy in comparison with
the approximation of independent scatterers, whereas calculation simplicit
y of the approximation is retained.
