Abstract
Results of the Studies of emission of a subnormal glow discharge in low-pre ssure mixtures of xenon or krypton with chlorine in coaxial discharge tubes are presented. Efficiency of emission of XeCl* and KrCl* molecules up to 3 0% with respect to the power introduced into the discharge is obtained. It is suggested to use a subnormal glow discharge for the development of sourc es of spontaneous emission with a large emitting area, uniform spatial dist ribution of emission, and long service life.
