Abstract
Cross sections for two-photon absorption of hydroxybenzenes at the 532-nm w avelength of the second harmonic of a Nd :YAG laser are measured. The resul ts are interpreted by means of a semiempirical model, which allows one to e stimate the dimensions of effective pi-electron clouds of phenol, hydroquin one, resorcin, pyrocatechin, and bromohydroquinone.
