Abstract
Raman scattering from the (111) surface of a single-crystal PtGa2 sample wa s measured at 300 K. The first-order spectrum yields energy for the k appro ximate to 0 optical phonon mode of 118 cm(-1). The full width at half inten sity was found to be 3 cm(-1). The second-order Raman scattering band was o bserved at 236 cm(-1). These values are compared with those obtained from t he isostructural compounds AuAl2, AuGa2, and Auln(2).
