Abstract
Dense suspensions and supercooled, glass-forming, fragile Lennard-Jones liq uids near T-g should display similar relaxational and rheological behavior based on dynamical heterogeneities (actually, clusters of correlated, mobil e particles embedded among the ordinary, bulk particles). Near structural a rrest, we expect the sheer-thinning onset to vanish as the inverse bulk-bet a relaxation time. Connection to mechanical properties of granular media ne ar random loose packing is briefly considered. [S1063-651X(99)08108-8].
