This response attempts to highlight the pioneering work of Di Vita, (Di Vit
a, G., 1997. Macroeconomic effects of the recycling of waste derived from i
mported non-renewable raw materials. Resources Policy 23 (4), 179-186), in
the macroeconomics of recycling, while also attempting to follow up the res
earch by applying the model to the UK economy. In addition, the methodology
of Di Vita's approach is considered as we attempt to highlight alternative
considerations for future theoretical and empirical work in this exciting
field. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
