Abstract
Conversion coefficients from proton fluence to effective dose have bee n calculated by the FLUKA code for various geometrical conditions of i rradiation of an anthropomorphic phantom placed in a vacuum. Calculati ons have been performed for monoenergetic protons of energy ranging fr om 5 MeV to 10 TeV. Since no conversion coefficients in terms of effec tive dose are known at present for protons, this paper closes an impor tant data gap.
