The submonolayer structures of neodymium deposited on the Mot (110) surface
have been investigated by reflection high-energy electron diffraction. Nin
e kinds of surface structure, (14 x 2), (13 x 2), (11 x 2), (8 x 2), (6 x 2
), c(6 x 2), c(4.5 x 2) two-dimensional structures and a one-dimensional pe
riodical structure, appeared at different film thicknesses and substrate te
mperatures. After the termination of these structures a c(5 x 3) structure
appealed at the thickness of nearly one monolayer. The appearance of these
structures in the Nd/Mo(110) system is very similar to that of the Ce/Mo(11
0) system. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
