Abstract
A new two-step synthesis of pyrrole-2-carboxylic acids is described, steps via 1,3 dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides to nitro-styrenes and ox idation of the resulting pyrrolidines with alkaline hydrogen peroxide.
