Abstract
Sodium methoxide was found to be an effective catalyst in the reaction of d iesters with diamines leading to macrocyclic diamides. The time of reaction was shortened by about 20 times as compared with previous results (to seve ral hours usually). additionally, yields of desired products were improved by about 2-8 times.
