Abstract
Density, viscosity and ultrasonic measurements of the solutions of nickel m yristate in a benzene-methanol mixture (7:3 v/v) were carried out at 40 deg rees C. The results were used to evaluate the critical micelle concentratio n (c.m.c.) of soap and to study soap-soap and soap-solvent interactions. Th e ultrasonic measurements show that the soap behaves as a simple weak elect rolyte in dilute solutions and the soap molecules do not aggregate apprecia bly, in dilute solutions below the c.m.c.
