Abstract
This article is a review of the pharmacologic management of the horse with developmental and acute laminitis. The mechanisms of action for vasodilator s, anticoagulants, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, and misc ellaneous agents, used for prevention and treatment, are presented and disc ussed in light of the current understanding of laminitis. Potential contrai ndications, complications, appropriate, and inappropriate drug therapy are briefly presented.
