A. Mollenkopf et al., Management of a pregnancy complicated by idiopathic thrombozytopenic purpura and diabetes type I, Z GEBU NEON, 203(4), 1999, pp. 166-169
We report on a 25-year old female in whom idiopathic thrombozytopenic purpu
ra and diabetes type I existed at the same time in pregnancy. In this const
ellation we decided to treat her with intravenous immunoglobulins for five
days and delivered her by caesarean after recovery of the maternal thromboz
ytes. While this proved to be an effective treatment for the mother with fe
w adverse effects we saw severely low thrombozytopenia of the child requiri
ng intensive postnatal care. A longterm treatment with immunoglobulins for
about three weeks could be a possible treatment for the fatal as well as th
e maternal thrombozytopenia. Reports on this question do not yet exist.
