1. A 26-year-old secondgravida presented at 26 weeks' gestation with severe
vaginal bleeding. A caesarean was performed which led to a 880 g female in
fant with multiple malformations (Wolf-Hirschhorn-Syndrome). It deceased sh
ort time later. - 2. A 27-year-old secondgravida at 37 weeks' gestation del
ivered a 1520 g infant by caesarean which was made because of fetal asphyxi
a. - In both cases investigation of the placenta showed capillary chorioang
ioma. - Chorioangiomas are the most common tumors of the placenta. Occasion
ally they are associated with fetal anomalies and growth retardation. Depen
ding on size complications during delivery must be considered.
