In this paper we study the indirect upconversion-sensitization luminescence
of Tm (0.1) Yb (10.9) : oxyfluoride glass induced by 800nm diode laser. Th
rough the comparison between:Tm (0.1)Yb(10.9): oxyfluoride and Tm(0.1)Yb(3)
: ZBLAN glasses we found that the upconversion luminescence intensity of T
m(0.1)Yb( 10.9) : oxyfluoride glass was greatly enhanced and exceeded the l
evel of Tm(0.1)Yb(3) : ZBLAN glass under the condition of indirect upconver
sion-sensitization. The results illustrated that under this kind of upconve
rsion mechanism, it is possible to find some kind of material which has hig
her rarer earth doped concentration and cut-off phonon energy, thus showing
much higher upconversion efficiency than ZBLAN. This work and the results
obtained win be helpful to promote the upconversion research to practical a
pplication. To our best knowledge, there have not been similar works publis
hed domestically and a broad.
