S. Archangelsky et Lv. De Seoane, Palynological studies of the Baquero Formation (Cretaceous), Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. VIII., AMEGHINIANA, 35(1), 1998, pp. 7-19
Spares of the Turma Triletes (Reinsch) Dettmann 1963 and Monoletes Ibrahim
1933 are described. Within the Tuna Triletes species of the genera Aurituli
nasporites, Concavisporites, Obtusisporis, Rotverrusporites, Reticulatispor
ites, Retitriletes, Cibotiidites, Muricingulisporis and Vallizonosporites h
ave been studied. Within the Turma Monoletes species of the genera Laevigat
osporites, Microfoveolatosporis, Polypodiidites and Tuberculatosporites wer
e also studied. The following taxa are new: Rotverrusporites labratus sp. n
ov., Reticulatisporites ornatus sp, nov., Retitriletes baqueroense sp. nov.
, Cibotiidites auriculatus sp. nov. and Vallizonosporites spinosus sp. nov.
Comparisons with extant pteridophyte spores are made. The affinities found
between fossil and extant spores suggest that the Baquero Formation develo
ped in a humid and temperate to warm climate during the Lower Cretaceous.
