Abstract
We introduce a model of anharmonic polymer chains based on n replicas of th e Lie algebra U(2) and find its spectrum and transition rales up to two qua nta of vibration. We compare the corresponding formulas with the infrared s pectra of n-paraffins. (C) 1999 Academic Press.
