Abstract
The occurrence and abundance of microscopic fungi were studied in soils of floodplain forest with Populus (T-1-T-4) of age category from 10 to 40 year s. From the soils of the floodplain 24 genera of microscopic fungi belongin g to subdivisions Zygomycotina, Deuteromycotina and Ascomycotina were ident ified. The abundance of soil microscopic fungi was the highest during the v egetation period (from March to August) and decreased in November. Among th e most frequently recorded species were those belonging to the genera Paeci lomyces BANIER, Penicillium LINK, Trichoderma PERS. and Verticillium Nees. In the soil mycocoenosis of the floodplain forest Salici-Populetum the Deut eromycotina species were dominant.
