Abstract
The present study, addressed to understand the molecular link between LDL, cholesterogenesis and DNA replication in Hep G2 cell line, revealed that th e inhibitory effect of LDL upon cellular DNA synthesis, cholesterol synthes is and apo B-specific LDL-receptor gene expression at the transcriptional l evel, was mediated entirely through the activation of Receptor-C-k and not through its conventional apo B-specific LDL-receptor pathway. Based upon th ese experiments, we propose that Receptor-C-k controls the cellular cholest erogenesis as well as DNA replication and hence, it may have a crucial role in hepatic pathophysiological process.
