Abstract
100nm bandwidth Raman amplifiers have been realised using a 12-wavelength-c hannel WDM pumping unit comprising high-power GRINSCH strained layer MQW BH laser diode modules. The gain flatness is less than +/- 0.5dB, which is ac hieved through the asymmetric channel allocation of the pump and without th e use of any gain equalisation filters.
