Abstract
An 80 Gbit/s ATM-switch multi-chip module (MCM) has been developed that use s only an optical I/O interface for high-speed signal interconnection. The MCM was fabricated using 0.25 mu m CMOS/SIMOX technology, 622 Mbit/s/channe l 40 channel/module parallel-optical-interconnection technology, and highpe rformance cooling technology. Its small size (220 x 174 x 15mm) will enable 80 Gbit/s optical ATM cell switching.
