Abstract
The Ultralightweight 155mm Towed Howitzer (UFH), the world's first 155mm ho witzer weighing under 9,000lbs (4,000kg), was designed primarily as artille ry support for Rapid Deployment Forces and Army Light Brigades. It is air t ransporable by medium-lift helicopters and other tactical transport aircraf t. The result of a 10-year private venture research and development program me by Marconi Marine (VSEL). UFH meets the requirements of the British Army , US Joint Services and other armies around the world for a weapon that off ers 155mm lirepower combined with low weight, as a consequence of the use o f Uranium and other innovative design features.
