High resolution ultrasonic imaging may be achieved via the synthetic apertu
re focusing technique, provided that the synthetic antenna should be correc
tly spatially sampled, We show that a spatial undersampling is possible, us
ing a digital spotlighting technique that permits to recover correct recons
tructed images from the aliased data. The proposed method is applied to exp
erimental ultrasonic data.
