Abstract
CD8(+) T cells protect against infection form intracellular bacteria and pa
rasites by lysing infected targets. Here, a novel mechanism is discussed in
which CD8(+) cytolytic T cells directly destroy intracellular pathogens by
releasing nn antimicrobial protein, granulysin, from cytotoxic granules.
