Abstract
Diemakers have, in recent years, been asked to deliver sheet forming tools more swiftly and at lower cost. However, it is their traditional design met hodology that most holds them back. This paper proposes a new approach, com bining the use of numerical simulation with the design-aid system CAETROK. In many cases it is on the basis of numerical simulation results that decis ions are taken regarding die design. The CAETROK system incorporates module s that assist one to produce the preliminary die design. These same modules provide the characteristics of the material used in the numerical simulati on, as well as solutions to those various failures that may arise during si mulation or on press tests.
