The (alpha+beta)-->beta transformation in Ti-6Al-4V (Ti-6-4) has been studi
ed with the alloy subjected to constant rate heating. A heat-flux different
ial scanning calorimeter (DSC) was used to record the thermal behaviour of
the transformation. Microstructures at different stages of this transformat
ion have been observed using optical microscopy and scanning electron micro
scopy (SEM). Results show that the (alpha+beta)-->beta phase transformation
includes two stages, alpha in transformed beta-->beta and primary alpha-->
beta. Tn addition, activation energy value related to the primary alpha-->b
eta transformation in Ti-6-4 alloy was evaluated. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science
