Abstract
While Silva et al. (1999) must be congratulated for leading a discussion of accreditation of graduate programs in applied sport psychology, the author s appear to have "put the cart before the horse." They have adopted an extr eme one-sided position that suggests that accreditation of programs is the only viable solution for some of the training and employment problems that currently exist in the applied sport psychology profession. This response q uestions some of their assumptions and conclusions and offers several alter native solutions to these problems in a more balanced analysis of the curre nt situation. It is hoped that these articles will stimulate further discus sion at AAASP meetings and among practicing professionals.
