Specific heat measurements of liquid Tl-Se alloys were carried out over the
whole composition range. The specific heats, about 36 J mol(-1) K-1, were
determined at temperatures just above their melting temperatures. The speci
fic heats for Tl100-xSex with x less than or equal to 70 decrease almost li
nearly with increasing temperature and come to about 29 J mol(-1) K-1 at 97
3 K. On the contrary, the specific heats for Tl100-xSex with x greater than
or equal to 80 increase with increasing temperature. For alloys with x gre
ater than or equal to 80, the structural change associated with the formati
on of dangling bonds mainly contributes to the excess specific heats. (C) 1
