The velocity of sound in the liquid S-Se alloy

The sound velocity was measured to investigate the polymerization transitio n in the liquid S-Se alloy. The onset temperature, T-lambda, of polymerizat ion transition could be found up to 10 at.% of Se, which decreases with inc reasing Se fraction at the rate of -5.5 +/- 0.6 (K/at.%). The results indic ate that T-lambda in liquid Se may not be observed in a finite temperature range in contradiction to the previous theoretical calculation. (C) 1999 El sevier Science B.V.
