Measurements of viscosity and surface tension were made on Fe-rich FeB liqu
id alloys for compositions: Fe85B15, Fe83B17, Fe80B20 and Fe75B25. Viscosit
y of the liquid alloys was measured using the oscillating cup method. For s
urface tension determinations we used the sessile drop method. The temperat
ure range covered in these studies was 1473-1823 K. The observed deviation
of the viscosity and surface tension from the ideal temperature and composi
tion dependence, for the investigated liquid FeB alloys, indicates the effe
ct of the B concentration on the short-range-ordered structures present in
the liquid. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
