Yb. Trach, Epoxidation of ethylallyl ethylacrylate by tert-butyl hydroperoxide in thepresence of ammonium paramolybdate, KINET CATAL, 40(4), 1999, pp. 516-520
The kinetics of epoxidation of ethylallyl ethylacrylate by tert-butyl hydro
peroxide in the presence of (NH4)(6)Mo7O24 . 4H(2)O was studied. The orders
of the reaction with respect to the hydroperoxide (n > 1), the catalyst (n
< 1), and ethylallyl ethylacrylate (n = 0) were determined. The effects of
the reaction products (2,3-epoxy-2-ethylpropyl ethylacrylate and tert-buta
nol) and water on the reaction rate were examined. It was found that the ep
oxide exerted no effect on the rate of this process; tert-butanol was an ac
tivator: and water was an inhibitor of the reaction. The kinetic scheme of
the process was considered. The overall rate law was obtained, and the kine
tic parameters of the process were calculated; these parameters agree with
the experimental values.
