Abstract
A spectrokinetic study of the reactivity of surface complexes in low-temper ature ammonia oxidation over iron oxide was carried out. It was shown that the surface complexes (NH3)(ads) and N2Oadsdelta- are the intermediates in the process. Our data about the real intermediate complex suggest a stepwis e mechanism of the process. Quantitative analysis shows that the use of thi s mechanism gives a satisfactory description of the spectral and kinetic ch aracteristics of the process on iron oxide.
