The viscoelastic behavior of a weakly aggregating dispersion of polyst
yrene latex is studied using dynamic rheological (low-amplitude oscill
ations) and creep measurements. The high-frequency shear storage modul
us and limiting Newtonian viscosity at low shear rates are determined
as functions of the volume fraction of particles. The results are desc
ribed by the microrheological theory proposed earlier and based on the
analysis of the kinetics of the creation and the breakup of particle
chains with account for the fractal properties of a structure.
