The reduction of graphite from the lead concentrate of Rajpura -Dariba is q
uite problematic due to the complex nature of the ore. A lead concentrate c
ontaining less than 3% graphite is necessary for lead metallurgy, but the f
lotation process is unable to reduce the graphite content to the required l
evel due to it's natural flotability This paper presents the results of pla
nt trials of the Multi Gravity Separator for the reduction of graphite from
the lead concentrate. Results show that combination of the flotation proce
ss and MGS reduces the graphite content to the required level. (C) 1999 Els
