Abstract
This paper presents a calibration procedure based on the least-squares meth od that enables an improvement of the precision of data through a functiona l relationship between variables. New and more precise values of physical q uantities used as input data are determined using the information contained in the calibration curve. A simulation is provided in order to study the i mprovement in precision. The procedure was applied to the gamma-ray energie s of Ir-192 and Eu-152. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
