Capillary resistometry is a method which is about one hundred years ol
d, used to record the fragility tiny vessels. Techniques to date have
had the disadvantage that neither standardized outline conditions nor
an objective system existed to evaluate the findings. We, therefore, s
tudied the development of a computerized measuring system that could b
e able to determine the capillary resistance indepedent of examiner. A
lthough the experimental and test conditions in our tests were kept co
nstant to a large extent, there was a distinctly individual variation
found in the quantity and surface of the petechiae which are obviously
dependent on a multitude of other influences. Despite the variation,
it could be demonstrated that the method is well reproducible, thus ma
king it suitable for clinical application.
