Abstract
The design and synthesis of a new class of protein kinase C (PKC) activator s, phorbol ester dimers, is described. These dimers were found to bind to a nd activate PKC with affinities depending dramatically on their tether leng th and composition. In two cases, the binding affinities of these novel com pounds exceeded that of phorbol dibutyrate.
