Abstract
An asymmetric synthesis of an alpha-substituted serine derivative was achie ved by employing PLE-catalyzed hydrolysis of a prochiral malonate derivativ e, and the absolute configuration of the hydrolyzed product was unambiguous ly determined by the X-ray analysis of a camphorsulfonic acid derivative.
