We discuss exact renormalization group (RG) in R-2 gravity using the e
ffective average action formalism, The truncated evolution equation fo
r such a theory against the de Sitter background leads to a system of
nonperturbative RC equations for cosmological and gravitational coupli
ng constants. An approximate solution of these RG equations shows that
antiscreening or screening behavior of the Newtonian coupling arises,
depending on the higher-derivative coupling constants. (C) 1997 Ameri
