Abstract
A simple approach to describe levitation force measurements on bulk melt-pr ocessed high temperature superconductors was developed. A couple of methods to determine the critical current density J(c) were introduced. The averag ed a-b-plane J(c) values for the field parallel to this plane were determin ed. The first and second levitation force hysteresis loops calculated with these J(c) values coincide remarkably well with the experimental data. (C) 1999 American Institute of Physics.
