Abstract
We present an exact solution for a static and axially symmetric spacetime, which is obtained from a scalar-tensor theory that comes from unification t heories. As an attempt to model the dark matter (DM) in spiral galaxies we find that an exponential scalar potential is enough to explain the rotation curves in such galaxies. We also present the fitting to the rotation curve of six spiral galaxies and we find an excellent agreement between observat ional data and the results of our model.
